Weather 1, Lockes Fun walk 0!
It seems the weather got the better of us once again on St.Stephen's Day. For the benefit and enjoyment of all, our annual walk had to be rescheduled and will now take place on New Year's Day at the same time.
Sorry to disappoint those hoping to walk off the calories from Christmas dinner, but we hope you can join us this Thursday for the annual get together.
A crowd of 40 plus attended the Juvenile AGM last Friday night in the clubhouse. Proceedings got under way with secretary Robert Jackman read the minutes of lasts years meting and followed on with a comprehensive secretary’s report. The treasurer’s report gave an account of the financial standing of the juvenile section of the club, and Chairman Jim Lynch gave his views on the year past. Election of officers and mentors for the year ahead followed, with the following being elected:
Chairman Jim Lynch, Secretary; Robert Jackman, Treasurer; Diane Tobin, School Liaison Officer; Margaret Nolan.
Huge congratulations to the Lockes ladies football team as they created their own piece of sporting history on Sunday last by securing the Carlow/Kilkenny eleven a side Junior title. This was an excellent performance by the team and it needed to be against the current Carlow Junior Champions (Palatine) who had beaten the girls in an earlier league game. The early exchanges saw the Lockes open the scoring courtesy of points from Breda oNeill and Katie Delaney but Palatine replied quickly and were level by the tenth minute.
All Ireland Minor Champions
The John Lockes have produced a club jersey for their supporters. So why not buy your own club jersey this year instead of buying the Manchester United, Liverpool or Celtic Jerseys. Wouldn't it be cool to wear your own Lockes jersey throughout the year. We have had a special design for young people created so if you would like one for yourself or for the kids. Let us know. The juvenile jerseys up to age 12 will retail at €35.00 and jerseys for 13 years upwards will be €40.00 as they are subject to VAT unfortunately.
