Ladies Footballers score first victory

The newly reformed John Lockes ladies football team played and won their first game together when they defeated a Dicksboro selection . The Callan girls showed the benefit of their few weeks training and put together a performance which gives hope that they may be competitive in the upcoming local championship. Breda o Neill was outstanding at midfield and led by example where Irene Guilfoyle, Emma Hennessy and Jodi Henderson contributed points in attack and a superb goal from Caroline Murphy and useful contributions from Erin Thomas and Aisling Bryan coupled with a resolute defence where Caroline Ryan kept a sound goal, Amber Prior Deirdre Carroll and Joanne Walsh repelled many a Boro attack with the assistance of Sarah Byrne, Edel Byrne and Lynn Beirne in defence and Ciara Power at midfield and substitute Michelle Murphy the Lockes ladies made a piece of history on a J.L. 1-9 D/B 1-1 scoreline.

Training continues each Monday and Thursday evenings at 7.30pm and all are welcome especially new members.
