Death of Tom Walsh
The death has taken place of Tom Walsh Green St. Callan and the John Lockes Club paid tribute to the Former All -Ireland senior medal winner ( 1957) at his removal on Friday evening last. Tom originally from Ballintee in Dunnamaggin spent most of his live in Callan and was hugely instrumental in the forming of the Juvenile end of the club back in the 1970's. Tom along with Pat 'Diamond' Hayden, Harry Bryan, Joe ODwyer, Br. Jacob and Fr. Liam dunne had committee meetings regularly in each others houses and were very successful in restoring the fortunes of the underage section of the club. Tom was very proud of all the young talent coming through and managed a street League team at the time which was very competitive but great fun. A regular face on Green st once he had retired Tom always had a word for everyone and he loved to see the youngsters heading to the Fair Green or John Locke Park to play sport. Tom will be missed by all who knew him and we extend sympathies to his wife Anastatia, son John and daughters Ann and Mary. Ar dheis De ar a ainm dilis.
