Brave young team just fall short
Despite been beaten on Saturday by a stronger and more experienced Thomastown team we have to salute the lads that wore the Saffron and Blue of the John Lockes in the U-21 South 'A' championship. They gave it their all for the club and Trainer John O Neill and his assistant Jimmy Corcoran were so proud of their efforts. Jason Corcoran who was part of the Kilkenny U-21 panel this year. Jason certainly would have been part of the Kilkenny team this year only for illness. He along with Jack McDowell who was also part of the Kilkenny U-21 panel were their to lead the Lockes into battle. Both lads gave their all and are certainly role models for all the younger guys involved with the U-21 Lockes lads. Jason will be over age for the U-21 Kilkenny pane next year but hopefully Jack will be wearing the Black & Amber of the U-21 county team in 2014. His experience at Fitzgibbon Cup with UCD should help his cause in a big way.To the younger lads who will certainly have a crack at this U-21 championship in the next two years a big thank you for the work you put in over the past month. Well done to the Lockes U-21 team you certainly did the club proud. The team of 2013 were; 1 DJ Bergin 2 Sean Tierney 3 Jack McDowell 4 Eoin Scriven 5 James Power 6 Jason Corcoran 7 David Phelan 8 Cathal Byrne 9 Bill McDowell 10 Josh Hains 11 Ryan O Dwyer 12 James Macken 13 Mark Shelly 14 Shane Bergin 15 Sean Power.
