John Lockes A.G.M. Report 2013
The John Lockes Club held their a.g.m. On Friday evening last Deceber 13th and the first one to be held in their new complex. Chairman John Walker opened proceedings by remembering all deceased members of the club and a minutes silence was observed to honour their memory. He said that the club had lost four presidents in the previous twelve months Jack Lynch, Denis oSullivan, Tom Ryan and Johnny Wall who had all given sterling service to the club for many years.
Secretary Declan Roche gave a comprehensive report on the years activities and paid tribute to all people working at every level of the club and hoped that all could work together for the advancement of the John Lockes Club. He thanked his fellow officers for their time in what was a very busy year for the club with the opening of the new development. The junior B and u-21 teams were congratulated for reaching finals during the year with the junior B team capturing the Southern B title along the way. He expressed the hope that the junior team could build on the hope that these performances gave for the year ahead. The camogie club was flourishing he said, with teams fielding at several different age groups and Richie Buckley and Sinead Butler were thanked for their work in particular and Declan also said he hoped that the Ladies Football recently formed would flourish in 2014. Sponsors Callan Co-Op and Callan Credit Union were thanked as main sponsors for the adult and juvenile section of the club respectively as were all our sponsors and contributors to the various fundraising activities.
Sean Hogan presented the treasurers report to the meeting and gave a concise breakdown on the daily running of the club and also the fundraising for the repayment of the club's development loan. He thanked the Lotto and cattle scheme participants for their contributions which are ring fenced to service the development of the Park. Harry Bryan was thanked for his tireless weekly work on the Lotto books which Sean said was vital to the club. Sean also hoped that John Locke Park would get to host some high profile games in the Kilkenny Champioships in 2014 as we now had the facilities to stage any game.
Chairman John Walker said he was very proud to be chairing the first A.G.M. in the new complex and spoke of the need to maximise the facilties for the benefit of all. John thanked Davy Kelly and Kieran Lanigan fot their work in preparing the pitches during the year and he also thanked John o' Dwyer for all his generosity over the last few years in running the golf Classic.
Juvenile Chairman Jim Lynch outlined the year at juvenile level and thanked all the coaches who gave of their time during the year. He said that the new astro turf facility would be of huge benefit to the club in player development in the coming years. Jim said that the older age groups were made up of small panels with each panel depending on younger players to field come championship time. He expressed disappointment at not securing a title and lamented the loss of some key players at vital times during the year. The schools were thanked for their work during the year as were the sponsors . A lively discussion followed to hear views on the best way forward on the field of play for all our teams and it was announced that a special meeting would be held early in the new year with this in mind.

Barrie Henriques was appointed as a life President of the club and the meeting also ratified Joe Molloy as the incoming manager of the junior team for 2014 and he will pick his own management team.
