Field Day a huge success

The Club would like to thank everybody who helped to make the annual field day a success and a very enjoyable event for all the family. In particular a huge thank you to Anita Cullen and Phil Ryan from A.I.B. Callan who generously sponsored prizes for the art competition which had entries from every class in Bunscoil Mc Auley Ris. All the art is on display in the entrance hallway of the complex in John Locke Park and is well worth a visit.
Barrie Henriques designed 18 different games for 'The Cube' with varying degrees of difficulty for all age groups and the children in particular derived great enjoyment from it all while the adults were wary at first the competitive instincts took over and great fun was had by all to see who could defeat their opponents.
The u-6, u-8,and u-10 boys played hurling exhibitions and the girls u-12's camogie did likewise while the toddlers enjoyed tractor races and hoppers and various games in the astro turf area. The usual inflatables were there with long queues to get a turn ,while Eamon Burns and Paul Morrissey cooked delicious burgers and hot dogs to feed the families while the ladies from the camogie club provided tea and sandwiches and a fantastic cake stall . Bernie McAuley was kept busy all afternoon with her fantastic face painting and was in huge demand right up to the end of proceedings while Rose Corcoran and Harry Bryan sold tickets for the raffle which featured three loads of firewood for the winter months.
The afternoon required a team effort and a big thank you to all who helped on both days and the club hopes to run more family friendly events over the coming months and years in our own complex.
