Club Notes for this week 2nd March 2015
Junior Football.
The Lockes junior Footballers qualified for the Championship semi- final courtesy of a 2-14 to 0-6 victory over Tullogher-Rosbercon on Saturday last. The score line does not tell the full story of what was a very decent game of football played in very windy conditions. Tullogher had the use of the strong breeze in the opening half and the Callan lads were pinned in their own half for much of the time. Tullogher enjoyed a four point advantage at the break 0-6 to 0-2 but the Lockes had fought hard to restrict the deficit and now had the elements at their back. John Paul Corcoran and John o Neill returned to the fold up and both players showed their undoubted class in an excellent second half showing which left Tullogher shell shocked with the Lockes running up 2-12 to no reply . The Lockes moved Darren o Dwyer to the centre forward slot for the new half and he proved to be very instrumental in most of the second half exchanges. John Paul Corcoran and Alan Costigan kicked two fantastic points from long range with John o Neill and Martin O Connell also getting in on the act with similar scores. Green flags from Dwayne Hanrahan and Darren O Dwyer put the issue beyond doubt and leaves the Lockes in a county semi-final. A feature of the first half were the long kick outs from keeper Mitch Corrigan against the strong breeze and this helped in no small way to the successful rear guard action. A great team effort and the lads are certainly enjoying the games and are looking forward to a county semi-final shortly.

Ladies Football Medal Presentation
The ladies football team will celebrate their 2014 league victory on Friday night in the Big Wheel and the event will also double as a fundraiser with a table quiz beginning at 9.30pm. The Ladies Club are hoping for a good turnout as they do very little other fundraising during the year and would appreciate any support. A table of four costs €20 with finger food provided courtesy of our host Liam Glennon. The ladies team will receive their medals for winning the Carlow/Kilkenny Junior Div 3 league last year and all are looking forward to the coming year when they will play in Div 2 with the first game scheduled for March 29th away to Palatine.
