Under 21 County Title Secured

The much awaited U-21 County Final replay between John Lockes and Barrow Rangers took place on Saturday 12th March in Bennettsbridge at 2.30pm. The Lockes lads produced a performance full of passion and never say die attitude which ultimately carried them over the finish line when lesser teams might have accepted their fate. Forced to line out minus men of the callibre of Owen McGrath,Jason Corcoran and Goalkeeper Sean Bryan who were out with long term injuries, meant that the team had to reorganize and some positional changes were forced upon the mentors. In poor weather conditions Barrow Rangers had marginally the better of the first half and led by two points 0-8 to 0-6. The second half looked like it was going the way of the Paulstown men when they were four points up with eleven minutes left following a fortuitous goal. Shane Bergin , Matthew Holohan and Simon Burke reduced the defecit to two before Dan Mc Cormack popped up with two marvellous points (the last one in injury time) to secure a famous victory for the Lockes Club on a scoreline of 0-15 to 1-11.Team: D.J.
