Field Day a resounding Success
The John Lockes family field day proved a huge success on Sunday last when the gods smiled kindly on us and provided a beautiful day which was enjoyed by hundreds of people on the Fair Green Callan. There was something for all the family from vintage cars to sumo suits, games of skill, wonky bicycle, penalty shootout, horseshoe throwing, rodeo bull wheel of fortune and a raffle for some quality loads of timber . There was no danger of anyone going hungry either with burgers and hotdogs, teas and sandwiches, ice cream and a cake stall all conspired to make an ideal family atmosphere. There were races for the youngsters too, running and sack races and one each for the mammies and daddies. The dog show also proved to be very popular and many owners went home displaying rossettes won by their pets. The whole operation was carefully planned and credit to all members who gave of their time and to the ladies who worked tirelessly in the marquee providing refreshment for all. The club also acknowledges the support of Callan utd in allowing us the use of their dressingrooms and facilities and we thank them for that. The day was made possible by the generosity of people with their time and effort and of course by the support of the local community by their attendance. We are already looking forward to next years event .
