Lockes in another Final.

The John Lockes Intermediate's continue a more than pleasing new season when they qualified for the final of Aylward Cup agains't Senior and Leinster Champions O'Loughlin Gaels. The Lockes over came poor conditions to see off a dogged Tullaroan team, by 1-10 to 1-09. The score line does not reflect the Lockes grip on this game and but for poor shooting would have been further ahead at the end. It certainly was a night where the young guys came to the fore, with Tony Delaney, Jack McDowell, Owen McGrath, James Power, Jason Corcoran really stepping up to the mark, while the experienced heads of John O'Neill, Mick Roche, P.J. Coady, JP Corcoran and Paddy Kennedy driving this team on. Up front Niall Hennessy, Dan McCormack and the Kilkenny Intermediate stars Ger Shelly and Simon Burke worked so hard. Paul Morrissey as usual was steady between the posts. Despite the poor shooting this was an excellent result and sets up an interesting encounter between the Junior and Senior county champions of 2010. Both clubs went on to win their respective Leinster titles before suffering defeat in their All-Ireland finals. Saying that the city side sohuld be the stronger and more experienced, but if Shane Bergin, Michael Hartley and Cathal Byrne are available ofr the final, the Lockes will have plenty of young blood and experience to hopefully put up a good account. The final date has yet to be fixed, but it will be another day to look forward to and yes another final to hopefully enjoy.
